Adriano Zumbo (born 6 November 1981) is an Australian patissier and chef, known for his croquembouche tower, V8 cake, and fairytale house on ''MasterChef Australia''. Dubbed as the "sweet assassin", "Patissier of Pain", and "the Dark Lord of the Pastry Kitchen", Zumbo is also known for introducing ''MasterChef'' contestants to his technically challenging desserts. It screened on SBS One Thursdays at 7:30 pm. ==Biography== Adriano Zumbo was born to Italian parents from Calabria and was raised in Coonamble, New South Wales, 164 kilometers northwest of Dubbo. Zumbo's parents owned the local IGA supermarket, where he developed a sweet tooth and a keen business sense. He later switched to selling goods to grower's market before opening his first patisserie in Balmain in 2007. Today, Adriano Zumbo owns six patisseries: Balmain, Pyrmont, Rozelle, Waverley, Melbourne and the QVB in Sydney's CBD.
